Why is this sterling silver chain so special? All handmade chains are special! Most chains are now made by machines, whereas handmade chains are labour-intensive, with each individual link having been worked on by the maker and left with its own character.
I have one of these chains myself and it is my most favourite piece of jewellery. It has a lovely feel to it, the sparkly loops make it very eye-catching and it can be worn in different ways.
Each loop of silver is shaped from wire, cut, linked to other loops and then all of them are soldered closed. Finally each link is hammered to give it a beautiful hammer-beaten finish which catches the light. The chain is then tumbled for hours to give it a bright and sparkly finish.
The chain can be worn in different ways. The simple but sturdy and secure handmade catch can clasp the chain at any point, meaning you can wear it at its full length or clasp it higher up to leave a trailing strand of loops, which can be worn hanging down at either the front or the back.
The chain is approximately 50cm (19.5") in length, but it can be clasped at any point. I'm happy to change the overall length of the chain if required - contact me to discuss this as there may be a difference in cost.
