Rose earrings
These delicate rose earrings have been handmade in sterling silver. Each earring features three layers of ‘petals’ – each created from an organic cup-like shape, one nested inside the other.
To create the roses I start with circles of varying sizes cut from sterling silver. The circles are then beaten with a variety of hammers to build up an organic texture on the metal and to make the edges uneven. The circles are finally domed and then placed on a handmade sterling silver pin, which is soldered in place to form the post for the earrings as well as the centre of the flower.
The roses have been tumbled to create a sparkly finish, but the inside of the cups retains a small amount of white silver oxide to add to the organic, textured look.
Each earring has a sterling silver butterfly earring nut to secure it in place.
Each rose is approximately 0.8cm (0.3”) in diameter and 0.3cm (0.12”) deep. The post of each earring is approximately 1cm long (0.4”).
Note that my jewellery is all individually handmade. The item you purchase may differ slightly from the one photographed. This is part of the beauty of handmade work – no two pieces are ever identical.
