Damask earrings - sterling silver
These post earrings have been created from the shape remaining from the damask pendant design I make.
To create both the pendant and earrings I etched a decorative damask-type pattern into sterling silver. The silver was then cut out in the shape of a small detail which caught my eye in another damask pattern, with one section forming the pendant and another the earrings.
The etched areas of the metal have been left with a matte white silver oxide finish created by a process of repeated heating. The raised surface area has been gently sanded back to give it an eye-catching shiny silver finish.
A sterling silver post has been placed on the back of the earrings and it is secured by way of a sterling silver butterfly earring nut.
The earrings are approximately 1.2cm (0.5”) at their widest point and 1.6 (0.6”) at their longest. They are designed to be worn with the pointed section at the bottom and have a light weight to them.
Note that my jewellery is all individually handmade. The item you purchase may differ slightly from the one photographed. This is part of the beauty of handmade work – no two pieces are ever identical.
