Beautiful and contemporary Australian native-inspired pendant with luxurious 14ct gold.

This eye-catching iris pendant was inspired by the many stunning native irises I have seen when out walking in the wilderness near my home in the Blue Mountains.

The iris flower has been cut out by hand in sterling silver and given an organic texture by way of being hammer-beaten and sanded. It has then been tumbled to give it a bright and shiny finish.

Three small 14ct gold balls are soldered to the centre of the flower. These are created from recycled gold – small offcuts from my gold scrap which are melted into balls.

The pendant is suspended from a delicate and simple sterling silver chain which is finished with handmade sterling silver clasp findings.

The necklace is approximately 43cm (17") long. I can generally change the length of the necklace if required. Please leave a message when you check out indicating the length you would like.

This design helps me to recycle some of the leftover gold from making other jewellery. This helps to ensure that only small scrap pieces are sent for refining, reducing the environmental impact.

Just the facts:

  • Materials: sterling silver and 14ct gold.
  • Flower size: approximately 2.1cm (0.8") in diameter.
  • Necklace ize: approximately 43cm (17") long.

Notes:

  • Most of the milled gold and silver I use is recycled rather than newly mined. Learn more about my environment and ethics policies.
  • All of my jewellery is individually handmade, so the item you purchase may vary slightly from the one photographed. This is part of the beauty of handmade work - each piece has its own personality!
