Duck egg blue vintage glass bead pendant on silk
These lovely and unusual vintage duck egg blue beads are in the shape of a stylised flower with a ripple running around the bead.
The beads are made from German glass and come from a collection purchased from a bead manufacturer when it closed its doors in the early ‘70s – the beads in the collection were created between the 1940s and 1970s. I have a limited supply of them.
To create this pendant, three vintage beads have been placed on handmade sterling silver headpins which are then wire wrapped to secure them. The three beads are then suspended on a loop of sterling silver, which has been soldered closed and hammer-beaten to give it an eye-catching texture.
In turn the loop is suspended from a necklace made from black natural silk thread with handmade sterling silver findings.
The beads hang approximately 1cm (0.4”) from the loop and are 0.7mm (0.3”) in diameter and 0.3cm tall. The loop is approximately 2.2cm in diameter, while the necklace is 43cm long.
