Poppies necklace
This necklace features five delicate poppy pendants which are suspended on a sterling silver chain.
The poppies have a light weight and move freely on the chain and will sit in different positions as you move. The make a lovely tinkling sound as the domed shapes hit against each other.
To create the flowers I start with a circle cut from sterling silver. The circle is then beaten with a variety of hammers to build up an organic texture on the metal and to make the edges uneven. The circle is finally domed and then placed on a handmade sterling silver headpin, which is coiled around and soldered to form an organic-looking connection to hang from the chain.
The poppies have all been blackened and then finished in way which leaves them with a shiny, dark grey metallic surface with silver showing through in places, particularly around the edges.
The necklace is approximately 43cm (17”) in length. The poppies vary in diameter from 1.4cm (0.4”) to 0.6cm (0.25”).
I can generally change the length of this necklace – just include a note when you checkout.
