Poppy pendant with gold centre
This pendant is a sterling silver poppy with an 18ct gold centre. The poppy is suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain.
To create the poppy and the centre I start with a circle of both sterling silver and 18ct gold. The circles are then beaten with a variety of hammers to build up an organic texture on the metal and to make the edges uneven. The circles are finally domed and then placed on a handmade sterling silver headpin, which is coiled around and soldered to form an organic-looking connection to hang from the chain.
The poppy has been tumbled to create a sparkly finish, but the inside of the silver cup retains a small amount of white silver oxide to add to the organic, textured look.
The necklace is approximately 43cm (17”) in length. The poppy 1cm (0.4”) in diameter and 0.4cm (0.15”) deep. The 18ct gold centre is approximately 0.4cm (0.17”) in diameter.
I can generally change the length of this necklace – just include a note when you checkout.
